On a general note, is it reasonable to insist that any transactions of sleds / connectors through this bbs should always require the buyer to quote their empeg serial number ?

Just mindful of the odd theft that gets reported here - it would be a shame if the bbs inadvertantly supported the thieves in any way.

empegteg67 ; Please please please dont think I am accusing you !

nah it's ok, this radio cost so many money that if someone can stole it and just buy the piece quick fast like that that will be too easy because the thing the most important on it is the radio everything else is nothing, but is mine i bought it on www.empeg.com, the thing is some wire on the case are been cut and i would more like to start with new wire then thry to fix them

Since you are an original owner, and your name is probably still on file with the Empeg guys, you could probably contact support and they might be able to help you.

Keep in mind that they no longer sell the sleds and wiring harnesses. So those are a rare item. Even when they did sell them, they were pretty expensive.

If you decide that you want to repair the wires yourself, please refer to this pinout list to make sure you've got the wires correct. You might not need to repair many of the wires in that list, you might only need to repair a few of them to get it working again. Depends on what connections you're using for your particular installation.

Same answer, then. Contact support for information on getting a new hard disk cable.

Question: Why do you need a new hard disk cable? Mk2's with serial numbers as low as yours didn't (to my knowledge) have the dodgy-cable-crimp problem.

I'm sorry but I didn't understand that question exactly. Perhaps this is the information you were looking for?

Have a look at these threads:
Can I buy just the wire harness plug?
and
Final call for sled plugs

You may be just in time to order a set (and a spare !)
