I went outside to pull my car forward one spot in the driveway, and turned my car back off nearly immediatly, only to have Dark Side Of the Moon start playing at me nearly as I turned off the car. Somehow, this quick sucession of on-off confused it, and the player didn't shut off. I waited in the car to see if it was just delayed, but nope, it finished the track and went on to the next... Any ideas what I could have done to cause this?

This could be an explanation for people that have reported coming back to their car to find their empeg playing...

Was the player booting up when you first started it? I think the hardware might ignore the "power down" sequence until the player has fully booted up. I seem to remember seeing this before.

The times I have seen my player fail to power down, it was because my power connector was dodgy, and it thought it was supposed to be in AC mode. It eventually corrected itself but for a week or so, I was having to pull my empeg out of the dash to power it down.

Odds are you only had the key on for as long as the player was booting (8-12 seconds). During the boot process, it doesn't read the ignition-sense line.

If that's the case, and it causes that behavior, it needs to be added to the internal bug list, IMHO. It seems like it'd be easy enough to fix. The player software just needs to check the switched power to see if it's on as the first thing it does, and if it's not, then go directly to standby mode.

I'll put in a vote for the current behaviour. If the unit is off (not standby), I can turn it on with a quick on-off using the key, without having to wait for it to boot before removing the key.

I think you're asking too much! I had this happen to me yesterday when I needed to move my car a few feet for someone. It'sreally bad to start and kill your engine like that.

Even in that case, you could still pull it out of standby by just pressing a button, and you still wouldn't have to wait to pull out your key.

The reason that this could be a big deal is that you might do it without realizing it and your empeg/amp could drain your battery, since it will never, as far as I can see, go to standby or turn off.

Yeah, I'm voting that this is definitly behavior that should be fixed to avoid screwing things up... I realize it's fairly minor, but the software is so impressivly close to perfect I hate the little things not being quite right...
