This afternoon I accidentally pressed one of the remote buttons just after having turned off all power. Result: Mark happily woke up and resumed playing ! Played around with it a bit and it could well be that any remote key-press is treated as un-pausing the player. Is this to warm us up for the continued-play-after-ignition-off feature that I asked for some time ago ? Henno mk2 nr 6

It's not a warm up, it *is* the "play after ignition off" feature. It was mentioned in the 12a release notes, I believe.
After accessory goes off, the empeg goes to sleep. You can wake it at any time with buttons or remote, and it will carry on operating. If you don't wake it within 60 seconds (or, after waking it you power off) the until will go to sleep totally, and will only wake up if the ignition comes on or a timer event (not implemented yet ;) ) happens.

it *is* the "play after ignition off" feature. Great! Is it timed yet?? butshould it wake up with any button? I'd expected it to need a press of the top button on the front panel. The same one that starts off a normal play sessions . . Nice feature though Henno mk2 nr 6

It's timed, yes - as I said, if you don't wake it up within 60 seconds of accessory-off, it will go into deep sleep. We may make this time configurable if there's demand.
I agree that probably the top button should be the way to wake it as it's a bit more logical that way, or any of the input selector buttons on the remote as when coming out of normal sleep.

If the screen isn't on, the amp isn't on. The drain from the mk2 with screen off is something like 150mA with drives spun down, and <1mA in deep sleep.

If the screen isn't on, the amp isn't on.I understand, and am not concerned about the amp draining the batts when Mark is sleeping. What I wouldn't like is Mark happily playing (with the amp on too) by accident. A timer that would put mark back to sleep again after a while would be very welcome. No need to hurry -- just a wish BTW: Congrats on approaching consumer 1.0 Henno mk2 nr 6

Some cars switch of radio (even with switch on "battery") after a while. Mine does that after an hour. It's called "ECO-Modus". TeeMcBee

it *is* the "play after ignition off" feature.Sweet feature! Combines the advantages of ignition-off with the flexibility of always-on. I had no idea you guys were planning this. With all this great stuff you're implementing, I'm starting to want a Mark 2 now. Just last week, when talking to my wife about the idea, she seemed to be warming up to the Mark 1. Perhaps it was the fact that we'd just taken a long trip with the Mark 1 and she began to see the advantage of it. When I said I'd have to get rid of the Mk1 to install a Mk2, she actually said the words "or it could go into MY car". So there's hope! ___________ Tony Fabris

The way I see it, you have two options... 1) get the Mk2 and install the Mk1 in your wife's car, or 2) wait and watch while your wife buys a Mk2 and fits it in her car!! Get your retaliation in first, is my motto Geoff ---- ------- Got one of the first Mark 2 empegs...

You mean only NOW is your wife "starting to warm to the idea" of an empeg? What the heck was her opinion of this the whole time?

She was lukewarm to it for a while.
Until I got the subwoofer installed, she wasn't impressed with the sound of it and thought the Empeg was to blame. Putting in the subwoofer and re-EQing everything turned that around.
She also got irritated at the sudden changes in volume from album to album when I'd shuffle-play things. Rjlov's volume adjustment kernel has helped that a bit.
She didn't like the lack of a volume knob, but over the last couple weeks, she's gotten used to the hold-down-the-buttons method and is now proficient with it.
The amount of fiddling and tweaking I do to the system is a source of contention. But she understands that my car stereo is one of my hobbies, and has tolerated it even before I owned the Empeg.
The fact that I have to pull the thing out and lug it around with me is a bit of a problem for her, but she understands the necessity of it and even nags me if I've chosen to leave the unit in the car (which is very rare- only in broad daylight and only if I'm just running in the store for a minute).
Finally, the whole idea of having all that music shuffle-played was foreign to her, and until taking these recent long trips with me, she didn't realize how it can really help pass the time. Now that she's taken some long journeys without hearing the same song twice, she's actually said things like "now I can understand what this is all about".
Like I said, there's hope.

Not all thank you very much. I understand the desire for an empeg :)

Not only women don't understand why to pay >= 1000 $ for a "car-hifi". Some of my friends don't really understand, too. "There are CD-Changers" is their argumentation.
Maybe some of them will understand what I mean when I finally get the Mk2 (hopefully in 1 1/2 week or something...)
