Very nice job Rob. I'm having a blast looking through the site and every bit of info on it is interesting, humorous, and informative. I'm thrilled by the projects Kim and John and everyone have in store for us and it's nice to finally see you people "in the flesh" so to speak.

Great job, and get back to work! Just kidding.

When was the last time you submitted a big report? *grin*

Actually you should have been invited, but if you weren't, blame Hugo!

Maybe I didn't choose one of their better songs, I must admit to picking one at random and not actually listening to any of them. Then again, maybe they just sucked :-)

You have to remember that this was England in the early 80's. Nobody had any taste in those days.

Rob,

Hey, if you are gonna put my picture on there at least get my name right (Mike not Mark). A little digital editing in photoshop to make it look like I had shaved in the past month might have been nice too ;-)

Hey, if you are gonna put my picture on there at least get my name right (Mike not Mark).

I'm partially to blame for that one, since I proofread the site and didn't catch that typo.

Okay, only a really TINY part to blame, but sorry anyway.

You need to listen to it a bit more. It's on my empeg and it came up in random play - I didn't realise who it was for the first minute or two :)

I can't remember the exact genre, but it didn't last much beyond the early 80's. They played support for people like the Stranglers, had a recording session with U2 - pretty good if you ask me :)

Oh come on, Rob! I agree with Hugo and quite like it - it's certainly better than the Mel C rubbish that is playing on the radio as I write this! As for picking one at random being a bad idea I think you picked a good one. The only other one I remember is the title track "Fear of Falling".

As for the genre ISTR Steve saying that they were rather like Altered Images (#Happy Birthday...#) before I'd heard them and I think that's probably true now I have.

Maybe we should put the names of the other members of the band up there too :)

Now the question comes up.. How many disagreements have started over types of music there, and the argument of "It's work related" been thrown in? :-)

I know one of the people there who repairs the empeg likes the Austin Powers 2 soundtrack. It's rather humorous that both times my empeg left my position for a short time, it came back playing that CD. (Once for the repair, and once from the installers figuring out the menu system).

I'll wipe the lens I see the world thru, and shut up now.
I'll even listen to the song a couple of more times.

I enjoyed reading though the geek site. I noticed that there were several initial design for the mk2 fascia from which the current one was chosen. I think it would be interesting to see the other regected designs.

I agree. Although the folks at empeg probably don't want to because they think we'll get upset that this design or that design wasn't chosen. Heck, we already had several passionate debates on just the one that was chosen!

But I think it would be neat to see some of the crazy designs you mentioned. That would be pretty cool.

Rob said that very few people ever saw the other designs. Some were more conservative, others were more "out-there". He already decided that the other designs won't be publicly posted because there's no sense in it: If we decide we liked another design better, there's nothing that could be done about it.

He also knows how the folks on this BBS have a penchant for debating things into the ground...

Umm..which is exactly what I said?

Anyway, I don't see the harm in seeing the really crazy ones. And considering they probably wouldn't look too good as pencil drawings, I don't think they have anything to worry about. Heck, we all remember how the initial drawing of the new face drew so much criticism, and now most everyone loves it!

As much as i'd love to see the other designs, i am rock solid sure that we will debate endlessly to "only give that faceplate to us" forever ...

Better never know what we are missing, it will be much harder if we know we only have the second ( or third or whatever ) best choice then not knowing it ...

Yeah. As I recall, the only people to see the other designs were JB Design (obviously), Rob, Mike and Hugo.

The rest of us only got to see the chosen design.

Roger - not necessarily speaking for empeg

Blimey - I've just gone through this thread, read the geek site and found the track to find out I am pretty sure I saw them in Leeds. The track I recognised right away!

(Gulp) I'm showing my age. I wonder if I bought their album? I was buying a lot of stuff around that time that's sat upstairs in a box (little-known stuff like Angletrax, Bauhaus, Agony Column, You, The Magnificent Seven).

Kudos to Steve!
