I don't know, man. This $15 deal is kind of like a "fire sale" for Darkstorm lenses. Haha, in a few months, when the Darkstorm lenses are all gone, we'll be seeing them on EBay for $700.

I'm going to grab some spares right now. NIB Dark Green anyone?

Oh yeah, one last thing. How DO you work that smoke lense? I bought it but haven't used it because there is that extra white film on one side. Do I have to leave that on to get the full smoke effect? But it covers the button holes, so do I have to cut those out? I don't know... Thanks in advance.

Just in case you are, that sheet is to protect the material between where it's made and the ultimate recipient - to help keep it from getting scratched. You remove all of it before you install the lense.

By the way, the lenses are great! I have several, and encourage anyone "on the fence" to try another color or two out.

hey, thats an honest mistake. one which i made myself when i first got a smoke lens.

I'd definitley recommend the smoke lense, it matches the illumination in my car perfectly. I think the lenses are probably the best accessory I've bought for my empeg, other than the bag of course!

tracer: Haha, I was SO serious with that question. I mean, all the other lenses (deep green and neon green at least) only had a front and back covering. The smoke had one back and two front coverings.

Yeah, I'm on the fence about using my smoke lense. I love the deep green so much (though it doesn't match the puke green Volvo interior lights) that I don't want to unwrap the smoke lense for fear it may decrease it's resale value. Hell, if Darkstorm ever stops making smoke lenses, people will have to get them from somewhere. ... always thinking of money making schemes, I am.

The reason there was more than one protector sheet on one side is a couple of batches that were done on the laser system before the equipment got upgraded had to have it installed before they got cut otherwise the side that got hit with the laser caught on fire on the original covering.
So the original covering got taken off and the new protective covering went on then they got cut.
When someone orders more than one lens, I cover the two lenses with one piece of covering so they don't move during transit. Since those few batches already had one side done anyone ordering more than one lens ends up getting two coverings on one side.

I guess you could say I'm big on protection.

Maybe I should write on the coverings that they need to be removed. Anyone concur?

I've purchased the neon red, blue, smoke and clear lenses from Darkstorm. They all arrived in good time and in perfect condition. I bought some before the sale. I think I made a good purchase then, the prices now are excellent.

Too bad I've bought all the ones I want!!!

By the way I see you have Clear and Smoke lenses. Have you seen the Gel Filters?

If the hack being suggested in the project forum works, I think everyone will be more interested in different lenses....

I'd love some of the gel lenses. I just have no money at the moment.
Tell you what, send me a green one so you don't have as much stock sitting around, and I'll send you money when I can afford it! ;-)

rev: My ideas for slot loading lenses are getting crazy. I'm loosing confidence in the idea. And besides, from my initial idea, the lense would have to be cut in a whack shape like the picture shows. Old lenses would work fine, but they wouldn't slot load without modifications. Unless.... I'll keep thining.

darkstorm: Yeah, how DO you get that covering on those lenses so perfectly like that? I figured you must have plastic sheets with covering on them and you just cut the lenses out of that. But that can't be because I bought a smoke and a deep green and they were stuck together perfectly.

Anyway, I can't imagine why people aren't buying more. But, then again, when I stop to think about it, I spent $85 on lenses without thinking twice. Haha, $15 here and $15 there doesn't seem to add up until you see that your PayPal account is down $100.

I guess you've never worked with plastic sheet before. It always comes with protective film adhered to it and usually holds to the machined edges after the base material has been worked.

I just bought four for my two mark IIa players. I think what scared me away was the paypal, which I used at one time. They wanted access to my bank accounts, which I thought is crazy, so I quit using them. Now I sse I can use it one time with out signing up. Looking forward to the lenses!

I tried to order several times,
but I always manage to try it friday morning.
Exactly when paypal is down for maintainance.
And then I forget.

I'd like to see how it assembles.
