Hi,
I am living in Duisburg, Germany and would love someone to buy my 4GB Mark 1 empeg! As the front panel is slightly damaged I will replace it with what ever colour you prefer if you get back to me before I order a Mark 2, otherwise I will be selling it with a (new) blue front (face it, blue looks cooler anyway :-) ). Reply to this posting if you are interested. Price is negotiable. Will be sold complete in original packaging with ALL accessories, current software loaded and newest version of emplode burnt on a CD.

I've been offered 1400,-DM for it so far, which I really don't think is enough since I paid just over 2500,-DM (new) for it in November last year. Ideally I'd like 2000,-DM for it, but I'm open to offers!

For those who don't know - 1$ is about 2 DM (not exactly but something close to that).
TeeMcBee Reg#948 - already ordered a Mk2.

Yep, but keep in mind that we Europeans also have to pay hefty sales tax. To compare with prices in the US and other places, you'll need to add between 15 and 20% sales tax(depending on the European country one lives in).
Contrary to the practice in the US with its liberal out-of-state tax exemption, sales tax is due on anything purchased commercially and on imports (new or used) and ranges between 15 and 20%. Sales between private consumers residing within the EU (who already paid the tax) are not taxed again
Thus our (consumer) price for a US$ 1099 Mk2 is US$ 1,300. Derek is willing to let his Mk1 go at DM 2000 (US$ 1000)

Norway isn't actually in Europe - at least, not in the European Community. The tax there is very high, but so are costs in general, and salaries, and the standard of living. I spent some time in Bergen and loved the place - although it's disconcerting that everyone speaks perfect English with strong American accents!
In general, taxes are higher in Europe (in comparison with the USA) because social welfare systems tend to be more developed here. It has to be said that beaurocracies are also highly developed here, and suck in a great deal of money for little benefit.

I'm wondering too, from time to time. But where can one go?? Home sweet home. I'll tell you something: 34% of my wages goes to taxes. After that you pay 24% tax on everything you buy. (food, clothes, empegs, etc.) Whats left??? nothing to buy a MKII for right now anyway.

It is Europe too, but not the EC (luckily I think).
So what did you do in Bergen Rob? Holidays, school or work?? You seem to know abit about Norway!

beaurocracies are also highly developed here, and suck in a great deal of money for little benefit.Sure? At least none of my shipments ended up being delayed by customs (and this while TNT manages to deliver more quickly to the States than 300 miles into Europe ) Henno mk2 nr 6

Nah, TNT can only manage 2 day delivery to the US (next day to New York, though) and they subcontract that. We use FedEx to the USA, who manage before 10:30am next day (if customs let them!).
TNT give next day delivery to most of Western Europe.

I was only there for about a week, installing a Q2000 lasertag site. It was one of the more enjoyable installations we did, as it was in a cyber cafe and we got to help ourselves to their net connection and pizza ovens all night :-)
I've been asked to go back there for a servicing visit next month, but unfortunately I don't think my empeg schedule is going to allow that.

TNT give next day delivery to most of Western Europe. You may be right here: I may be mixing up days. Now when I think about it, I believe my Mk2 showed up on Monday, after you shipped it on Friday, which does qualify as 'next day', doesn't it. (must have been friend Murphy that caused you to miss the Thursday shipping date on most of the first Mk2s shipmentsHenno mk2 nr 6
