I can get pelican cases pretty cheap if your interested. Possibly even cheaper if people are interested in doing a group purchase?

I would be interested in one 1400. I carry one of my empegs in a 1200 from house to car to boat. It holds the player, remote and ac ps (in a squezze). A 1400 would be nice for when I want to bring along a bit more.

cblake: I am interested in mass-cutting the foam for the 1400's. I enjoyed cutting the foam for my unit and I think I could create a process to greatly speed the process and produce very clean results.

So, what is community's interest for getting your Pelican 1400 foam cut for the empeg? If we could do it as part of the group buy, it would be beneficial for everyone.

Personally, I did my 1400 in the empeg + Alpine faceplate configuration (as seen in sphengali's and jets' installs. In this configuration, the empeg is on the left side of the case and the alpine faceplate is on the right side. However, in the mass production, I could have the right side in an optional different configuration: maybe a big square to hold usb + ethernet + rca + whatever else.

So, let me know your interest and any ideas for the right side of the case. Also, does anyone in the group buy have an Alpine deck and want the standard cut I would provide? Thanks.

Oh, and if anyone is interested in buying a grey Pelican 1400, mine is in grey but I'd rather have a black one. So, if you want grey, buy a black one and trade with me. I'll simply swap out my but foam with yours (or, cut yours while I have it, if you want (and if I have the mass production process done)). Anyone interested, let me know. The grey is just not "me".

The pelican cases seem very bulky. Any idea who the manufacturer of the Empeg carrying cases is? Perhaps they still make something similar (like a laptop carrying case) which would be easier to transport.

true enough BUT if you drop the orignal empeg case will it damage the empeg? Likely. I think although a little bulky it protects the empeg like no other case can.
