Now, what would be really whack is if each point on the hypercube could be associated with a certain audio frequency range; having the total amount of points covering the total spectral range. Then, each point could respond to the amplititude at that frequency at that point in time; creating a KILLAH visual.

I'd still love to know how most of the visuals rationally work. I've been trying to figure them out for months now but I'm honestly stuck on Sound Samosa. It's SO complex.

Yeah,. some of the more geometric looking visuals really freak out and make cool stuff happen beyond what they look capable off.

Of course, the ultimate floss mode is to have the info tex , scrolling the name of the song. That gets people in cars next to me drooling.

People stop next to me, roll down their window and point to the sky and say, "That's that satellite radio [censored] right?" (My eclectic taste in music enhances that profile: read - No Rush!)

I reply , "no, it's mp3".

THey look at me blankly and nod, and move on. They obviously didn't grok it.

Actual event:

Stopped at the lights, inside lane, in the Mini. Guy pulls up next to me in an Alfa 166.

(Mimes me to wind the window down)

I wind the window down.

"Hey! Is that showing the lyrics?"

"No, it's the title of the song and the artist"

"Heeeeyyyy, since when can you do that with CDs??"

"You can't, it's an empeg player, not a CD player"

"A what???"

At this point I run out of ideas about how to explain things.

Thankfully, the lights changed. Minis get away from the lights faster than 166's, especially when the owner really wants to. Then the 166's hit second gear and it's all over...

You can do that with (some) CDs, if you wish. Though of the 400-500 CDs I own, only one AFAIK has CD-Text. So you'd probably need to burn your own. And of course, you need a player that supports it - a good proportion of those on sale here in the UK claim to.

The ARCAM DVD player I have supports CD Text (something that incidently has only recently been "discovered" by the marketing people - it's been in CD-DA since Day 1, read the Red book) but out of all the CDs I own, I don't think there's a single one has it manufactured into the pressing. I have burned a few of my own to test it (it does work) but what's the point?

They are really squeezing the pips with CD-TXT.

cd-txt blows.

Music companies forget to do it, and in these budget crisis times, they arent wasting cash on cd-txt

plus. you'd have to burn all your cd's with that crap. How many times do you burn a CD in a rush out the door (i used to with rent a cars out of the country).

Plus like was pointed out, it doesnt always work.

Mp3 on CD Dashboard players that use the filename rock.

Nothing worse than a 4 dimensional object in 2 dimensions....... It's like a 1 dimensional shadow of a 3d object...

Ah, it isn't supposed to be geomagically correct. It just looks cool.

Have you guys ever had those dreams where your perception is 4 dimensional and then when you wake up you feel so blind/small/flat? I'm sure I remember waking up once thinking, "Ah, that's how the Klein bottle works" and then not being able to visualise it once I was fully awake.

Still, it's better than the 2 dimensional dreams - they're just dangerous. All very slicey dicey.

Sorry to be a little OT. Maybe lacking in sleep this morning.

No, but sometimes I have a dream where I think I'm awake lying in my bed, and then all of a sudden I will start floating and flying around my room real fast, and I'll realize I'm dreaming and I try to wake up but can't. They usually come in sets, to where I will have several early in the night, waking up after each one, which leads to confusing situations where I try to figure out whether I'm awake or asleep and then I start floating again and think "crap here we go again." One time I wasn't floating, but myself and the bed were moving like a fast sine wave.

I don't recal and dreams I could 'lable' 4d. I have had dreams where my perception system seemed to be pretty out of whack.

I tried imagining 4d once in high school. Just the space, nothing in it but 4 axis lines. It worked, sorta.. I feel against a tree, and gave myself a headache.

frog51: I wake up to a flat/plain/2dimensional world every morning. My dreams are always some sort of hyper-real and very rich.

The most accurate way to describe waking up in the morning is that it's like listening to the radio in stereo then switching it to mono. Something is missing, you can't describe it, but there's a dimension that has been stripped away. I really want to know what it is about dreams that make them so hyper-real.

Ok, sorry for the weirdness. Dreaming in full color, full sound, and almost always remembering them really does that to me. Haha, I was once into recreational napping. Only in college though.
