Now I know that empeg users are extremely resourceful so this is my best bet for ideas about what to do with a couple old pdas. I have an old Everex, Compaq Aero, and a Palm III. Any ideas about what to do with them? I would like to use the screens for something mostly. Turn it into a small lcd for a in-car gps maybe? Any ideas?

Heh, I got a $9.95 GPS for a Palm III, worked fine. Didn't need to dismantle it, even.

Too bad the software was the pits. Ended up hacking the GPS to hook up to the empeg. Much better software (but worse map data... go figure... ).

Maybe I should have been more specific as to the age of these pdas. The Everex is like 3 years old, the Aero almost 2, and the palm III, well they dont make anymore. I just thought it would be cool to have use the screen and make a gps out of. Install it in dash or something. Or even use the pda screen instead of the Epeg display.

Wouldn't matter to me.
I've just never been able to justify the money to buy one considering their limited functionality.

RandMcnally Streetfinder. There's some threads on it here on the BBS, you won't find one any more, it was a closeout Staples deal that isn't available any more.

OOOOOH! I like that idea. A sweet remote like that controls EVERYTHING! I do have 6 remotes too many.

PalmIIIs do not make good remotes. The software is there, the display is there... but the IR only works from 3 feet away.. that said...

It would make a nice empeg controller. You could script action sequences. Perfect for the car? Hmm. Maybe that's what I should do with my Palm V. My car ate my Remote the other day. Sux.

The orginal palms had an IR Add on component. And Omni Remote (the same people who made the remote control software) makes modules for the palm III and visor
