id like to see a tag of the bpm/temp added on a per song basis. not necessarily the actual speed but maybe one of five generalizations. crawl, slow, moderate, fast, speedy.
something like that. it would make it easier to create mood based playlists than doing it by hand is.

Do you have a useful way to calculate it to populate the tag?

I think Toby's already got code that sorta does this in the player app already. Don't think the data is used for anything yet, but it might at some future date.

Well, I’m would take a good guess at saying that the empeg dj prototype probably already has a bpm counter that actively displays on the screen of the digital mixer?

I don't care if you have it. There are at least 2 pieces of free software that try (beatforce and djkrazy I think). I wondered if you had some other piece of software that did it, or whether you meant that the player should be calculating it rather than just supporting tags.

Your car player is already calculating tyhe BPM of your tracks - it just isn't showing it to you. We didn't want anyone to know about it at the time, but I see no reason it can't be renabled in the Track Info screen for the next release.

I hope you mean the detailed track info screen that you get when you hold down the Info buttton. Not the main Info:Track screen?

Hmm - this does offer possibilities for future visuals to synchronise to the beat. Flancedoor springs to mind, if we could tag key frames as "on the beat" frames.
Is Toby Prolux likely to add any more visuals to the next beta/version? Not that I'm bored with the ones we have, but new/more is always fun.
