Anyone that would like custom lenses for their Empeg would be appreciated if they got them now as I need to recoup the money invested in them to get my transmission rebuilt since I have no other transportation to fall back on.
I am also considering making plastic fascia's in a few different styles for those that don't want to spend quite so much on metal ones. Stay tuned.

Thanks, but I drive a Lincoln Mark VII LSC. I love her because she's basically a Mustang GT in a tuxedo but lately (past 6 months) the bitch is trying to take me for every penny I have.
And as if my luck wasn't bad enough, now my Outlook Express is messed up again and I can't even get at the orders I need to fill.
Every time I open it it goes online and tries to get new mail. As soon as it gets to receiving the mail it crashes. It says it "ran into an unexpected problem and has to close, sorry for the inconvenience." It started to to that the night before with just opening an email. Now it is doing it when receiving. If I stop it from going online it will stay open but won't open certain emails without crashing still though. I don't know what to do. I want the damn thing fixed now.

Can anyone help me out on how to fix it?
I've already tried to reinstall OE and it didn't work. I've tried removing McAfee since it also started giving me problems but that didn't do it either.
I've used the system file checker and that didn't fix it.
I'm stumped as to what to try next. I don't want to have to reinstall xp since I know I'll lose a lot of settings and such so that is only a last resort.
I need to get this damn email back up. HELP!

Couldn't you disconnect your computer from the net/ADSL/phoneline so the mail retrieval fails. Backup your mail to a separate file and then blow Outlook away?

I can stop it from accessing the net and have already backed up it's databases (I'm not going to lose my email database like happened before), but I like Outlook Express's interface and I already have all it's email rules set up such as automatic notification when I get a sale on my cell phone, automatic email reply to let the customer know the orders received, automatic notification reply if they've forgotten to include the postage.
I'd rather keep using OE if at all possible. I'll reinstall everything first before I use something else.

Hey Steve, if you give me your pop server, i will set it up on our very basic web based email program. You should be able to check your email, and reply to messages. I don't use outlook express, only outlook xp (2002) and I’ve never had a problem. But if you need to just check your email, and reply. this will keep the messages on the server till you sync with outlook.

Well, here is what I would do:
1. Back everything up that you can (emails, address book, write down all your settings).
2. Test out your backup to make sure it works (on a different computer?)
3. Uninstall OE from original computer
4. Reinstall OE
5. Put everything back on
6. If OE still doesn't work, find another email program or reinstall windows
This could take you anywhere from 15 minutes to an hour.

PLEASE stop after step 3 in the above. Among other things, Outlook is one of the worst culprits in spreading email trojans. Its a horrible piece of software. May I respectfully suggest the following modifications to the procedure:
4. Install Eudora or Pegasus mail.
5. Import your outlook messages and address book into your new email client.
6. Use and enjoy.

I have had the same problem on a couple of computers at work. The problem was a (maybe misformatted) mail. When I deleted it, Outllok Express worked as it should again. Luckily the offending messages were spam...
So you could try to telnet in to the pop-server and check the first mail. If it isn't anything important, delete it and try again. If it is important, cut and paste the important bits, then delete it and try again....

I've used Outlook 2000 in a corporate environment for the last two years without any virus related problem. We run a virus scanner on our Exchange server and I do get quarantine warnings every now and again - I guess not all companies do that.

To be fair it's Exchange 98. Works fine as long as the RAID doesn't die - takes a while to restore a terabyte of email.

I'm using Outlook XP at home and it works fine. No problems at all. NAV scans everything coming in and out.
I'm stuck with Outlok because it's the only thing that synchronises with my PDA. Gotten used to it now anyway.

It seems like everyone that uses the full Outlook don't have any problems.
Does it work exactly the same? As far as interface?
One of the things I was able to do is on a questionable spam I could access properties in the inbox and then view the source as a text file so that way if there was html code in it it couldn't run but I could still see what it was.
Can I do that with Outlook?
And can anyone recommend the best freeware antivirus as good as mcAfee used to be?
I can still use some more sales, anyone that feels generous and wants some more colors for there Empeg.

One of the better freeware antivirus program is Gladitor, it will scan most everything going in and out of your system including linked with outlook and outlook express
[url]http://www.gladiator-antivirus.com[/url
The interface on outlook is pretty much the same as express, but outlook is much more powerful as far as the email filters go, as weel as a handful of other great tools to keep track of your day and life. I use the calendar and the task list all the time to make sure i got everything upto date. If you have an office xp cd i would just install it. I could never get used to any other email client, including endura and a handful of others.

Thanks Justin.
It turns out that the problem was my f+#*king Western Digital main hard drive. I have never had good luck with these drives since their quality started going downhil in the last 5 to 10 years.
The drive apparently went bad. I couldn't fix it with the recovery console and the S.M.A.R.T. hd technology they all use now also is saying it is bad. So I ended up having to get another drive. A Maxtor this time. I've never had a problem with a Maxtor plus they are almost always less expensive.
I luckily ended up finding Runtime Software's GetDataBack program for NTFS file systems and was able to recover most of the data from the drive but I'll have to put it all back manually. I don't see a way that I can use File & Setting transfer wizard to do it from a recover directory.
I also ended up installing XP Home since I wanted to get the service pack update since my Pro is a bootleg from someone.
I'd rather use the Pro though. Does anyone know if it is possible to use Pro to upgrade the Home edition and not lose the service pack?
Also if anyone knows how I can transport my settings and programs to the new install from a recovery directory on the same drive please pipe up and let me know.
Hopefully I will be done with all this setting up and installing by tomorrow the latest and be able to start on all the back orders I have on log then.
Barring any more computer problems I will find a way to get them all out this week.
Thanks everyone for your patience.

i know how everyone is against bootlegs here, but you can hack your xp to accept the the XP Pro service pack. M$ dosnt need the money anyways.
http://www.tweaktown.com/document.php?dType=guide&dId=350
Ya i have had at least 3 WD drive go out on me and i swear ill never buy one again, im pretty loyal to ibm drives, but that was before the other company took them over. Not sure what the did to effect there quality.
Good luck.

The XP product key "changer" that's linked on the page is strange. It's actually a batch file which is compressed in a RAR self extracting archive which is then compressed again by the UPX executable packer. All it does it print out a list of serial numbers and change the value in the registry for how long you've got until you need to activate XP. I wouldn't hold much hope for any of these corporate keys to still be working by the next service pack
Doesn't really affect me as I've got a legit copy of XP Pro from work. If anybody ever wants to buy XP Pro then get the OEM version. It's half the price of the retail version but it's still £100 though.
