Actually, someone should do this with music. I know there are suggestion engines out there that act as a "musical thesaurus" of sorts, and seeing it like this would be killer.

Darn, I didn't get the result I wanted. On Thesaurus.com (which isn't nearly as cool), for the word "information" they give the term "hot poop"

Anyways, that site is way cool!

As for the music thing, what exactly do you mean? I'm not sure I understand what that would be like. All I can think of is this: has anyone seen the movie "Hype!"? Great movie about the Seattle music explosion. At one point there's this guy who made a computer program. You type in the name of a personality in the music scene, tell it the number of generations to go out for, and it would give you a display like a cross between this thesaurus thing and a family tree, telling you how each band was connected by different members. I've been looking for that program for years now.

Haven't seen "Hype!" I'll have to check it out.

What I was thinking is a program that would take a band name and give you links to other bands that are of the same style of music. Not as broad as the same genre, but focused more so on the over all "sound" of the band. Basically what the suggestion engines do, only graphically, and maybe a little more detailed. Know what I mean?

Yeah, I suppose that AMG would be the place to go for that. Perhaps they should develop a program like that

Depends on your definition of "tool."

Looks like they already did the music thing to some extent for Sony, but it doesn't seem to be available online at all to play with.
