Just bought a new oem travelstar 60gb drive fro ebay, but i don't understand the jumpers. Theres a diagram on the label that makes no sense to me - how do I set up master and slave etc so that I can add it alongside the original 10gb? No jumpers came with the drive.

Does it matter whixh drive is the master or slave?

Cheers,

Phil

According to the website, if you have the Travelstar 60GH, having no jumper set at all would be master. A jumper on pins A and B would be slave, and on pins D and B would be cable select.

I ordered mine from Jameco but your not from the states so I don't know. Is it 4.99 with shipping? You might wanna buy like 10qty to make it worth it.

JUMPER SOCKET BLACK PK25 - pack of 25? if so then thats not too bad.

They're the same ones they tend to use on standard floppy drives, so if you have a dead floppy drive somewhere, cannibalise it for the jumper.

Cheers, Sim

Your order number is 73 (waiting patiently )

Sounds quite expensive to me... are you in any hurry as I have quite a few laying around at home. Pm. me your address and I can put some in the post.

Actually, are they a special size or the standard ones used on 3.5" drives and motherboards?

Gareth

Thanks, but I think they are a special size. I'll order some and if anyone else wants one then I'll send them one if needed.

Cheers

There are two types of pitch used these days imperial (0.1" = 2.54mm) and metric (2mm).

Most things are 0.1" spaced (MBs, 3.5"HDD, many connectors). However some stuff like 2.5"HDD are 2mm pitch.
