I've been looking for a net solution for serving MP3's around my local LAN. I had been using the Empeg but I wanted a better interface than the one offered by the built in web server.

I found this http://www.oneweb.co.uk It is really simple to install and is the best I have found yet.

I've also tried http://www.turnstyle.com/andromeda/ and http://netjuke.sourceforge.net/ but they just didn't hit the mark somehow.

NetJukeBox is close second, but it is slow on my machine and a pig to install.

Just thought it may be useful for you lot on here.

Yea, but the OneWeb gives you the option of an internal player in the browser window. Which is a much neater solution for me. And it does Album covers too ;-)

Doesn't have an in-browser player, but Edna is a python based server. Pretty decent when I used it a year or so ago.

Doesn't seem to allow you to download the tunes and NetJuke does. If I were to have an MP3 server out on the net (password protected of course), I would want the ability to download PLUS the ability to zip on the fly and download that. And it would run in Windows (not necessary, but would be nice). Anyone have something like that?

http://edna.sourceforge.net/ is the url for Edna.. If you know python, it shouldn't be too hard to add in a feature to zip up files.
