Okay, Hijack v332 is out.

-- the NextSrc virtual button finds the tuner again.
-- fake_tuner is back (100% untested)

Cheers

fake_tuner seems to work for me. Thanks!

Not seeing any speed improvement from changing Top.L=Top.L to Top.L=KOff, not sure why...

Firstly the NextSrc stuff now works. Fantastic!

Dunno whether this is Hijack now or the apparent 2.0 AF bugs but when listening to a station that broadcasts AF stuff (doesn't matter whether AF is on or off), it seems the tuner is constantly retuning (more than once per second).

Symptoms:
- On the Transient Visual display using InfoText, it continually restarts. Because it's restarting the Transient Info line at the bottom doesn't disappear.
- You constantly hear "glitches" as the tuner tries other frequencies I gues. Makes the station almost unlistenable

This didn't seem to happen with v331 although I didn't really try it for long enough to be positive and although the constant retuning was there it only seemed to happen approx every 15-30 seconds.

I can probably borrow a work laptop on the weekend to capture a tuner debug log if you want.

I definitely don't have either fake_tuner or tuner_debug in my config.ini

I take that back. Something funky going on.

This morning, I noticed that not only was "fake_tuner" not working, but right now when I hold the knob-button, it does not switch sources at all, not even to the Aux source. Removing the line "fake_tuner=1" returns it to normal operation so that I can at least toggle to Aux again.

replying to my own post...

OK I went back to v331 for the drive to work this morning and it does exactly the same thing - AF retuning constantly (except of course NextSrc is broke).

It definitely wasn't as bad on v324 though.

OK it's definitely not Hijack. I went back to the 2.00 final kernel and it still does it.

I am now going to either go back to b13 or see if I can disable the AF stuff in the kernel somehow. I have a feeling it's all in the player software though right?

Basically it makes the one station with RDS AF unlistenable since it's retuning and causing slight drop outs about twice a second. The station is Triple J for the Aussies.

It's not in the kernel, so Hijack/no-Hijack/old-kernel should not matter.

A question for the Empeg guys: If I added an option to Hijack to block the F0/F1 messages, would that effectively disable "AF" for this guy?

Thanks

I'm not sure how much work is involved with that but I will be able to tell in just a few seconds if that "fixes" the problem.

What I am probably more concerned about is that if this is normal operation for the RDS-AF (when switched on) then it's basically useless. The way I understand it, it's supposed to retune in quiet periods so as not to interrupt things. However it seems to ignore that rule and constantly retunes. You can see it doing it on the new special AF debug screen.
