Does anyone know where to find sleeves (or sleds, or mounting brackets (pic attached)) for in-dash cd players? I pulled an Alpine unit out of my girlfriend's wrecked car, but it was screwed in to the sides of the dash and didn't have one in the first place.

Now her brother is wanting it in his car, but, surprise, all of the accessories went to the junkyard with the car. I've found the radio-end wiring harness on e-bay, and one guy advertises within his auction that he sells the sleds also, but there's no listing for them anywhere. He hasn't responded to a three day old e-mail either.

I don't even know what name to search for. I've seen them called different things. Any ideas?

As I was searching for make shift sleds for the empeg people kept trying to give me stuff that looks like your attachment. I would try calling them sleeves and your local radio dealer.

Yeah, I contacted all of the local install places, nobody seemed to carry them. I guess I could resort to Best Buy/Circuit City type dealers next.

I was actually trying to find a source on the net or an actual search on ebay that would return at least a few results. That's why I was needing the technical name.

That's funny, 'cause her brother has the unit, which is 30 miles away. Don't have his number at the moment.

eBay Auction

It is an older unit (16-Pin plug), but I think the sled pictured on that auction is the right one.

Looks like Pacific Coast Parts Distributors is the official choice of Alpine for replacement issues. The website asks for make and model and then lists what's available. Mounting sleeves are available for some models but not all. Unfortunately its not very browsable.

Thanks, went ahead and ordered the sleeve and the harness from there.

It was an older model, BTW, a CDM-7834.
