Does anyone know where to buy old Hypercolor shirts (other than Ebay and garage sales?)

Shirts that change color based on body heat. Typical fad of the 80's

Wow. Shows my age / disposition. I was thinking and googling for tie-dye stuff...

most younger people will have no idea what I am talking about..they were popular in the very early 90s...they were those tye dye looking shirts that changed color from heat.

I did a google search for the hypercolor shirts, and found an article saying that Land's End occasionally sells them under the brand name Chromicolor. Went to the Land's End site, did a search for Chromicolor, and got that. No adult sizes, though...

Searching for Chromicolor with google, I did find a wholesale producer, but the minimum order is something like 20 dozen, so I passed it by... Land's End has an option to send you color swatches, though...

I was looking for hypercolor shirts on google too but I missed that one. I got alot of bad things about the 80's pages.

I have never heard of them either but I am about the opposite of trendy.

Well, I also threw in a few queries with "order" and "shopping" in it. This got rid of a lot of the postings. It is a good trick for when you are looking for a physical product - someone always has it for sale somewhere, and by narrowing the search down with an "order" keyword, you can get rid of a lot of the noise.

I had two hypercolor shirts... one blue one that turned pink (blech) and one yellow-green one that turned brownish. I found one in my old closet a year or so ago, but apparently they stop changing color after 10 years. =]

Man... I think my mom went through my room several years back and ditched all my clothes from my childhood, including no less than three hypercolor shirts. Those things were like an overnight sensation at our school. Can't remember all the colors but my favorite was one that went from purple to a greenish color. I'm sure there were many pairs of jamaican shorts a pair or two of Chuck Taylor All-Stars, and at least a hundred Ocean Pacific shirts amongst the discarded items as well.

I'm going to have a difficult time explaining the 80's to my children someday.

Gotta love the OP! Although - as far as hypercolor goes - it was actually a 90's fad. Early 90's but 90's none-the-less. Of course, as slow as our town was to pick up on fads - I was probably one of the last kids in America with a Hypercolor shirt.

Yeah, 1991. My freshman year of high school. But I generally consider the *0, *1 and in some cases *2 years of any decade as belonging to the previous decade. Obviously the distinction is trivial and often arbitrary, but 1990 and a majority of 1991 were years that I consider part of the 80's.

Why would you want to buy hypercolor shirts again?
Just wondering

Actually, this is really funny. I just spent the better part of two days trying to remember what the hell they called those things. I bought a shirt while in Jamaica that changes colors in the sun, and was trying to explain to my wife why I thought it was cool. You know, a throwback to high school thing. But I just couldn't remember what they were called. MMMMmmmmm. I'm going to go find one now.

Oh, and the ones that were a solid color were cooler than the tie dyed ones.

Del Sol

Scroll down toward the middle of the page and you can find links to a few of the t-shirts that change. My sister bought one of these a few years ago. They really are cool. They have taken it to another level now, though. I've seen fingernail polish that changes color from the sunlight. I can't find a link at the moment. Still looking for that...

Ahhh... I wasn't clear. I bought one of the Del Sol ones, but was trying to convey the hypercolor tees to her. Those are some fine looking shirts you linked to though. I may have to pick up a couple of them.

I'm going to have a difficult time explaining the 80's to my children someday.

I always thought the book and/or movie Fast Times at Ridgemont High explained it pretty well... My 80s experience at least... "That was my skull! I'm so wasted!"
