I'm trying to learn RedHat, and right now it is kicking me in the butt :P

I have a RedHat 7.3 install, but I am trying to upgrade Gnome to 2.2.1. There weren't any RPMS on the Gnome homepage, so I tried installing by hand. That was a mess, but doable, at least until I got compile errors in fontconfig.

So I decided to try to upgrade using the RedHat 9.0 cds (which I used to install RedHat the first time). To make a long question short (too late), is there any way to force RPM to install ALL the dependancies and all the packages in the correct order? Is there a way to install all the Gnome packages, since I don't know what I want or need (I haven't used a desktop manager before - been perfectly happy with WM and BB)?

Thanks.
