Well my wife's Nomad IIc decided it was not going to wake up this morning, personally I'm blaming Michelle Branch as I was ripping here latest CD at the time.

Anyways, I'm in the market for small MP3 player and thought I'd check here in case anyone has one gathering dust somewhere.

PS: Anyone intrested in a 128meg Nomad IIc? Going cheap ;-)

I advise waiting a month or so before going out and buying one as the new rio one will hopefully be shipping but if you are desperate the Ipod is nice.

I also think a few Riots will be going sadly i sold mine already

What sort of size/capacity/price are you looking for? Rio has some decent flash memory players out right now, but like Thinfourth said, if you're willing to spend the money for a small hard disk player, the new Rio player that's coming out in a couple months promises to be the bee's knees.

Capacity: the 128MB Nomad was on the small size, 512MB would be pretty good 1GB would be plenty.

Size: small, she uses it mainly in the gym and while jogging, which rules out some but not all of the HDD based players.

Price: dollar for dollar I don't feel that many of the flash memory players are worth it, espically when iPods are creaping under the $300 mark. The Nomad IIc cost around $140 last year, and their current similar models are about the same. I know Paul had an S50 with a 512MB card, which should do the job, maybe I'll price that up tomorrow.

The new Rio player (Pearl?) does ideal, and even better it has the same user interface as the Empeg in her car, but I don't know how long I can hold out for...it looks like tomorrow will be spent re-reading some of the confirmed rumor threads.
Do we know if they have any plans for any large flash memory players? or even any new flash memory players?

Thanks.

You want a slicky. Slicky has another name according to peter, but I'm not sure what it is. Anyways, it's based on the tiny hard drives that aren't out yet, and holds 1.5GB in the size less than a S series player. Of course, it isn't out yet either, so...
