Where is the cheapest place to find WinXP? I originally wanted the Professional edition, but the Home one would be ok too....

Kazaa?

Seriously, most hardware retailers will sell you OEM software as long as you buy some hardware. I managed to get a dozen copies of 2K OEM by buying a £3 mouse with each one!

I bought the oem version of xp pro from newegg.com

Like Andy said you just need to buy something trivial along with it like a $5.00 hard drive power splitter (don't know the technical name for that).

You don't want a Home Edition of Windows.

Through brief use of XP Pro, it seems to me like it's basically Win2K Pro with even more crap bolted on. That is assuming that you go to the trouble of making it look like Windows again, as I did, because I didn't like TeletubbiesOS.

I found XP Pro for $149.00 @ the following link:
http://www.bcd2000.com/index.asp?CartId={636C147D-18C8-413A-902C-58322B8CFB7E}&from=default

You can probally find it for less. (I wasn't looking for it.)

Pricewatch has a software category now. There's a bunch of people selling something with the following description for $7:
Preinstallation CD allows you to install win. XP (Not an OS) without CDKey and customize it before you sell
I'm guessing that that's not what you want, or that it would be not much better than Kazaa if it was. Otherwise, it seems to get down to about $90 for an OEM version.

You could try Scan or Aria, they were both willing to do it. I think we ended up going with Aria because they already had a SAP account with us.

This sounds like Windows PE, a preinstall tool MS has, and is what Longhorn's install routine is driven by. Definitly won't help if someone is looking for the actual OS.
