OK, my Riot is now Locking at "Battery Manager Setup" and dies if I pull the Charger out. Any ideas ???

At this point, I'm totally ready to rip the thing apart, where can I get a spare battery pack from ???

Unlikely to be the battery pack per-se causing the lock, as it's not intelligent. The player falling over when you pull the charger out does point to a dead battery though - or one which has a bad connection.

I'd check the pack voltage/connections first. The pack is a standard panasonic part, though the connector may be different requiring a little wiring work.

OK I have it in bits now, connections seems fine, can't find a model number to order a new battery, any clues ??? Could the boot be stopping because it can't see the battery at all, the same thing happens if I remove the battery pack altogether. I will have to get my meter from work to check the pack voltage.

On a seperate note, I was surprised to see no shock protection for the HD at all !!! Is this the same with the Karma ???

Hi!

I also have a riot with battery problem. I've taken it appart and removed the "plastic" on the battery to find it's a CGR18650HG

In fact, it's a samsung battery, model number ICR18650-18.(HG is not written on the battery, but the 18 written at the end of model number must stand for 1800 mAh. Dimension are corresponding: 0.7" dia by 2.56 " long.

Now, we've got to find a way to get some of those... any idea? Panasonic Canada tell that their distributor for Canada is digikey, but they don't have that model of battery.

Alas my Riot is no more

It fell off my bench onto the floor when I was tidying up, it was already in bits, but it pulled and snapped the display cable when it hit the floor.

Anyway, its not all bad, the Empeg is going to get a shiny new 20Gb upgrade, so bring on the KARMA !!!

Oh, and while i'm at it... does the new Music Manager app for the Karma and other new Rio players work with the Riot?! If so where can i download it!!??
