Hi,

Christmas arrived early for me this week as my Empeg arrived!!!

Now that I have started uploading some of my songs and playing them, I've noticed almost all the songs have clicks and pops in them.

The worrying thing is that they are not in the original on my PC (that I can tell) AND if you turn off the Empeg and back on they are not in the same place.

Is there something I have done wrong??? I thought I would check with you helpful people out there before reporting it as a bug.

Regards

That's not normal. Contact support@empeg.com.

The fact that the pops aren't present on your PC, and the fact that they don't happen in the same places in the songs every time, means you may have a RAM or a disk problem with the player.

You could turn on the disk icon option in emplode to see what the hard disk is doing while playing the songs.

If you turn off the Empeg and back on they are not in the same place

Are you absolutely sure about this? Have you attempted to verify the location of specific noises in a track between re-boots?

After further testing (playing it while ripping more CD's) It seems to go belly up after about 30 mins and tracks that were playing fine (no extra noise) have now got extra electronic noise.

If you turn the player off and back on again immediately same problem of noise but in different places. Turn the player off for 30 mins and works fine for a while.

Extra problem is that when the pops and clicks start if I syncronise with the Empeg it locks up completely and you have to turn it off and on.

From this I take it that it could be overheating ???

This sounds like a RAM fault; we've had about 5 players so far with dead ram chips which only go faulty when warm. Contact rob@empeg.com about this and we'll get it sorted out asap.

A quick note: if anyone is suffering from what appears to be a ram fault (garbled audio, player crashes, etc) can they try applying the attached upgrade file & see if it helps. I've had another tweak of the ram timings and suspect this may well help.

Note that this upgrade will be overwritten by applying a full upgrade (consumer, developer).

Can you email any feedback to hugo@empeg.com - thanks.
