If I right click on a link and select "open in new window", several times, I will have several Internet Explorer windows on my desktop.

If something causes one of them to crash, they will all close.

There is an option for Windows Explorer saying something about "open new windows in a different process" or something like that. Is there a similar setting for internet explorer?

Weird.. I've had that problem too and I just noticed if you have IE running and double-click it on the desktop it makes two iexplorer.exe processes (i.e. it makes a new process). I'm not sure why then Windows closes both processes when you select End Task. Maybe the key is to identify by Process ID which iexplorer.exe is having problems and then killing it individually in Task Manager or using "kill.exe PID" on the command prompt. Worth a try next time a window locks up anyways.

Thanks very much! I will try this.

Ooo, there's one for the DESKTOP, too, that's a biggie!

Yeah, most of the time I have to copy the link and paste it in an IE window I open from the quicklaunch or other location. It's a pain.
