Get a free Dell TrueMobile 2300 802.11g wireless router ($89 value) with the purchase of any Dell PowerConnect Switch. The cheapest PowerConnect Switch is the 2016 for $89.

Here's a link to the deal. Under the networking section, just choose the router you want and hit "Customize It" and add the free router. Offer expires 10/22/03.

Purchase must be made from Dell Small Business store. Just use your name as the "Company Name" when checking-out.

Tempting. My 802.11a AP doesn't get along with my 802.11a/b/g card. I personally have had nothing but trouble with Truemobile branded products. I realize they're all just rebrands so one doesn't influence the other, but I'm still hesitant. Anyone used this acess point?

User reviews on C|Net are mixed. I got in on this deal anyway. Once I get the router, it may be some time before I put it into service though.

The Dell 802.11g Truemobile parts are all Broadcom based I believe. Their 802.11b Truemobile parts however were all Orinoco/Agere/CoffeeStain based.

Yeah, I one spent four hours trying to get an Truemobile Orinoco based card work for someone. It wouldn't connect to the linksys AP for long enough to get any data through. Switched in a Belkin and everything worked great. The dell boards didn't have any solutions, and a new card is far cheapter than paying me to wait on hold for dell tech support.

Now i've got a Truemobile 1400 a/b/g card which is Dell's top of the line Broadcom based card. If I connect to my netgear 802.11a AP, it'll stop working for about 30 secconds every ten minutes. I'm not sure if it's the card or the AP, but It's damed annoying.

Of course, a broadcom based AP would probably be a good thing to go with my broadcom based minipci card, but I'm really opposed to that kind of non-interoperability.

I got it, too. Its a good deal for me because I've been wanting to get a wireless AP and my 8 port switch is full. Now I suppose I really need to get pf configured correctly on my OpenBSD router. I'll post my experiences with this device if anyone is interested.
