My empeg appears to not know when its in the car. First noticed that it no longer powers off when ignition turned off, and then noticed DIMMER and FADER menus no longer available when in car. Am probably going to hang on and install 1.01 rather than spend time looking at it now, but wondered if there was a quick fix ?

This is a "known bug". However, I don't remember whether it was a software issue or a hardware issue. I also don't know whether it can be fixed with an external modification, or if it requires sending the unit back to Empeg. Make sure that you're running version 1.0 of the software, and if that doesn't fix the problem, contact support@empeg.com so they can either send you a fix or repair the unit.

Uh oh. I have this problem currently. Hugo has advised me that given the symptoms, it likely means that the AC adaptor plug is broken in such a way that it always thinks it's on AC power. You're definitely going to want to email support to further clarify, but my guess is it's the same problem. I'm sending my Empeg back soon to have this repair made.

I was told I was the 2nd unit in about 1,000 made that has this problem, looks like you might be #3... Empeg should you start to look into this, or re-engineering the adaptor plug somehow?

It's rather hard to re-engineer the socket, as it's a very standard electronic part - in fact, I've not seen an alternative design 2.1mm pcb mount socket for sale anywhere (and there's no guarantee that an alternative one would be any better - they all use the same method of detecting plug insertion).

The socket is also tested during production functional test; it looks like some just fail during use :(
