I just got a mac G4 and it has a geforce MX video card. I am using two samsung 213t LCD panels. The card has one ADC connector and one regular DVI. Is there some way to make the panel on the DVI connector the primary monitor ?

I have a DVI KVM and the combination of the ADC to DVI converter and the KVM causes strange colored lines. When I run the regular DVI connector through the KVM to the monitor it looks great.

Piece of cake. Assuming you are running OS X go to system preferences and select "Displays". One of the tabs should be "Arrange", just drag the little menu bar in the picture from the monitor you want to be secondary to the primary. You can also drag the monitors around if you want to rearrange which one is on the left/right.

Edit: the procedure under OS 9 and earlier is very similar, just open the Monitors control panel and dig around until you figure it out.

I can't think of anything off the top of my head that matches the features they list (never used the program) although a lot of that is built into the OS (mirroring, multi-display screen savers, more than 10 monitor support, etc.). If there is something in particular you want have you tried searching www.versiontracker.com?

The features I used were it would add a button to the windows you could click that would send that window to the other monitor.

Also ultramon lets you use one image as a wallpaper on both screens. Like I have mine set to 1600 x 1200 so I could use a 3200 x 1200 image across both screens. I know I can just cut the image in half and stick one half on each monitor but it would be nice not to have to do that.

I haven't personally looked for such software, but a cool multiple monitor / OS X trick is to cut several multiple monitor backgrounds in half, put them in two seperate folders in the same file name order (IE a1.jpg a2.jpg, b1 b2 etc..), and set the background to change on both monitors. Nice effect of both fading out the old image and fading in the new one.
