Depends.

What spec, what engine, what year, and how much is it?

I think I would choose the Plymouth Prowler if I were going for something in that "look"... but thats just me.

It's not about what it looks like though. Plymouth Prowler drives like a bus compared to a 7. There is nothing like it (apart from a Westfield, Birkin, Striker, etc)

As for the car...

K-series - good
6-speed - good
dedion - good
carbon tat - good
1.4 - bad

11k tops. at 8k it's a bargain at 10k i'd prolly buy a 1.6k instead

£13k would get you a 20K mile Superlight i'd have thought or at least a decent spec 1.6K+ 6 speed + LSD

1.4K is £10k territory and no amount of zymol or factory fitted options should convince him otherwise.

Have a look at the Classifieds on www.bookatrack.com as there are a couple there

Also keep an eye on www.findit.co.uk/cars/caterham.htm

Not tryed a 1.4 yet i have been told they are good cars and quite revvy in nature which can suit tracks etc in scotland due to class structure as i might do a few hill climbs.

i had a shot in a superlight and bloody hell that was stupidly quick.

As to 7 being compared to Plymouth Prowler intresting But i supose the 7 hasn't got a huge following in america

1.4's are good cars. But they are not worth £13k.

There is a good Vx powered car in the Bookatrack classifieds that sounds good.

Strangely the gearbox is of more worry and importance to me as after trying a 6 speed and a 5 speed i just got to have a 6 they are a wonderful giggle in comparison to the 5 as i like changing gear

i think the ideal car would be just now a

1.4 or 1.6k series
6 speed box
dion axle
LSD
full weather gear
heater
4 point harnesses

nice seats and other goodies are basically benfits

i want the heater and weather gear as it is bloody cold up here at times so i'm not a softy.

I think that a superlight would be just too damn fast for a beginner as the one i was in was mind warp acceleration and it was only 140Bhp. I can't wait to get a ride in one that is in edinburgh that is full carbon bits and a 1.8 running on throttle bodys kicking out about 200bhp

To those not familar with a 7 200bhp sounds like nothing but they wiegh about 500kg so imagine a 3 series BMW with about 600bhp and you get the idea.

TBH don't pay anything more than £10k for a 1.4, and don't discount Vx engines.

Definately go for the 6-speed box though - that's a must.
