That is correct. That's just the way emplode works. If you want to specify directories and file names, use JEmplode instead of emplode. Its configuration screen lets you do very complicated file specifications, including specifying which fields become the folder names if you like.

Can you describe exactly what you tried, and exactly what it said on the screen afterwards? You say that you can't download with Jemplode, but you need to be more specific about exactly how/why you can't. Are you getting an error message? Are you having trouble finding the option? Are the files not appearing in the right place? What?

Because I don't understand why it wouldn't work. You just right click on whatever you want to download and select "Download" and it should just work.

He used jEmplode to download his MP3s, and it seems to work and makes all the directories and MP3 files, but all are 0k. A few days ago he used this method to backup his empeg with good results, but it's not working today.

Yes, he has rebooted and tried Windows XP and 98 and gets the same results. There is 35GB free on his drive and he wants to download 10GB from his empeg.

Maybe it's choking on a specific file, file name, or folder name. Tried a single file from somewhere down the tree?

Also: What version of the Java Runtime Engine?

He is using the runtime that comes with jEmplode.

OK, I'm leaving work now but it seems he is having problems with his old empeg and his new one he just got works fine for what he's trying to do.

the problem is only with my old 20gb empeg
new 60gb empeg works fine with jE45

Well, I'm stumped.

Is he running hijack? What version? Have him try turning off "Use hijack where possible" in the jEmplode options. The combination of new hijack with the new fid layout scheme and old jEmplode can cause problems.

You might want to upgrade to the newer jEmplode beta instead as downloads will be quite a bit faster with hijack enabled.
