Some quick background: Electricity scares me. I have no clue about wiring anything and if installing two wires, I will manage to screw it up. EE1 and EE2 were almost the death of me in school. Now, with that out of the way, on to the question...

I just got a new (old) fridge today. It was free, including delivery (I love my friends). My thought was to rig up a thermostat to the cooling unit as well as a thermometer visible from the outside and use it as a fermenting cooler for my beer.

Only problem is, I have no idea where to start. Is the thermostat inside the fridge accurate enough to keep it within the limits needed for the type of beer that is currently fermenting? Is there any recommended thermostat units to use, and detailed directions on how to install one? The only relevent pages I saw on Google were prebuilt kegerators, but I'm not sure if I just missed some pertinent pages.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!
