I have an 8" image that I would like to reduce to 1/8 - 1/4" image. Does slide film have this type of resolution? Do any service bureaus print to microfilm from a digital image? TIA.

Depends on what you want to do with the resulting 1/8" image. Slide film has really good resolution if you use the right imaging method, but one would need to know the final target application before rendering an opinion.

I just bought a bag of these for spy themed geocaching travel bugs. The way they work is a micro image is reduced and embedded in the viewer on a one by one basis. http://www.escopes.com/ sends the lens to me once I provide them an image. I was curious if it would be possible to create my own images with a new mission once the travel bug reaches its destination.

As an aside, here's the bugs that I'm working on so far. The 001 is the prototype and is outside of Bern right now. I'm looking for about 18 more "spies". Any ideas?

And this is backlit? i.e., the light to view the image is transmissive from the back of the unit?

I think slide film would work for this, yes. You'd have to experiment to determine just how small you could get text and still have it be readable. You'd also have to find a service provider who could output to slides for you.

I haven't asked yet. I'm trying to get the ones that they owe me done before I ask. Their customer service is a bit, hmm, troubling. They mixed up my orders, shipped to the wrong address, and then sent me an email asking me to ask the recipient to forward it to me at the right address. Bizarre.

A shame really because they have a cool idea.

Ahh, yes, Georgi Markov. Died 9/11/1978, they finally concluded he was poisoned by ricin in January of '79 (I think just a few days after my birthday). Anyway, it probably says all that on that page.

Pretty much, it just blows my mind that they would go to such extreme measures to assassinate someone. Ricin (the chemical ) is not easy to handle once rendered. I would have thought it would have been simpler to fake a robbery or similar crime. Then again, the police still haven't caught the assassin.

I believe what is needed here is a film recorder. These go up to about 8000 dpi. In fact, I think they actually use them to get computer renderings for movies onto film for projection. Anyway, find a service bureau with a decent one and talk to them.
