Looks like they've found the problem - bad flash memory. Hopefully they can map the bad section out and make it a little more fault tolerant in the future!

As am I! Bad flash! I am sure a lot of people on the board can sympathize with that one! 256MB of flash... Anyone have a 256 Cali or Chiba? Or a 20GB Karma? Or a 160GB empeg?
Think about that for a second, and be impressed at what this little rover is getting done with that kind of flash memory... Granted, there is other RAM on the lander, but...

You don't have to be as old as me to know that the moment they discovered moisture on Mars, Rover were stumped - they've always had a problem with damp.
You do have to be as old as me to remember when the standard solution to keeping a mini/1100/Princess and derivatives was to cut the ends off the fingers of a rubber washing up glove and fit it over the distributor!

What i think is most impressive is that they are able to communicate with the rover, and possibil are able to upload new functionality to it. They most have built a ton of backup functions in it. Amazing, thats what it is.

Ahh... well no. but I sometimes have to leave the drain plugs on the floorboards. There is a windscreen drain in the firewall on one of my 510's that is rusted out and leaks if it rains too hard or if there is snow melt... that reminds me, i better remove that 5" of snow/sleet from the car this afternoon.
BTW, has anyone noticed that is has been cold as heck on the east coast of the US since we placed a lander on Mars? I wonder if there is a correlation?

I was watching a program about the Galileo spacecraft the other day. The high gain antenna didn't deploy properly and since the time it was launched, they had developed new technology to repair some of the problems. They were able to beam new instructions to Galileo and were still able to get tons of useful data so the program wasn't a total loss. It's pretty amazing what they can do from millions of miles away...
