I am considering selling my baby. It is the rio car-Empeg the latest one they made. Version 2. It comes with the head unit, blue and red face plates, the sliding dock, remote, and manual. I may have the box still but I doubt it.. Looking to possibly sell it and wondered what it is worth??? Unit is in great shape works perfect.

So which version IS it?

It it has "RioCar" written on the top in big print, then it's the Mk2A version.

If it instead says "Empeg" on the top, then it's the earlier "Mk2" version.

A good place to check for going prices is Ebay...you can search for completed items and see what the last couple have sold for. I did a quick look, and a 60 GB one sold for almost 700 and a couple of 10GB and 20GB ones sold for around 500. Most of those were never used items in the original box, so you should take that into account and drop your price expectations accordingly.

When selling an Empeg it might be interesting to do some math and figure out how much more you could sell it for if you upgraded the hard drive first. If you can sell a 10GB for $350-400 and a 60 GB for $700 then there's a $300 difference plus you can sell the old hard drive as well... hmmm...just found a 60GB for $179.

The unit is a MK2A unit. And is about 1 yr old. Works great. I thought i Had the box but cant seem to find it.

Mmm.. his postings from 2002 indicate western Canada, in which case he can probably ship to the whole planet for reasonable postal rates -- probably CAD$67 for 4-day express mail to Europe.

Still have to hear from the seller himself though.
