In one of the random towns in upstate New York, I do believe we passed by a WRX police car ... I couldn't find my camera in time, but it was a white WRX with "World Rally Team" written on the side and it had blue lights on top. AWD + Fast = Not a bad choice for police in NY, i suppose.

They use them in Australia and I know that Subaru is trying to get them to be used in the US. That may have been a demo car?

Funny.. this is what I heard: The theives were using WRX's to break into stores (like ram the glass windows, then escape in them) so the cops got them because it was easier to catch up! Anyone from Australia hear this or is it a WRX BBS legend?

Here's a few from the UK - most were introduced to replace ageing Ford Escort Cosworths which had been kept on because nothing else could compete.

This is a *real* pursuit car though:

It wasn't a cop car. Blue lights are usually the sign of some other emergency service, usually a volunteer one. NY cop car lights are red and white with the yellow bar on the back.

It's standard across the whole state? Wow. Here in MI, every city has a differant layout. Nearly all are red, but some are red and blue. Some are a bar, some are seperate lights, etc.

I believe it is. I have never seen a blue light on a real cop car (IE not the DEP cops or the postal police). As a matter of fact, it was at one point (and may still be) illegal for ANYONE except volunteer fire/EMS to have lights on their car that are not red/yellow/white.

The stickers and the lights don't match. Unless there was a big sign "this car was siezed under RICO or drug enforcement or something else of the sort".

They're already here for those with the cash. But it's a lot of cash...

Maybe I'm childish and pathetic, but when these come in in 2006, I'll probably have no interest in having one anymore. The fun is in the challenge of getting one. Kinda like when the Evo came in. Cool factor goes down by approx 50%.

Now mind you, the RHD versions will still be hip.

I'm pretty sure that the police cars here in Virginia all have blue lights. At least all of the ones that I have seen.

blue -- police
red/white -- fire
orange/white -- ambulance
yellow -- tow truck

Thats what I've noticed to be the standard around here anyways.
