Well, this is a first. George Michael will quit the music industry and put all his songs available for free download on the web. He claims it's because he doesn't need the money anymore.

I'm sure a few record company's hot shots wet their pants when they heard about this one.

I heard on the radio today that prince is going to give his new CD away to people when they buy tickets to his concerts. I'm not a prince fan but I like that idea.

I had to laugh at this, and the Prince thing too. It's a little late to get all altruistic, no-one is buying their stuff anymore anyway. They might as well give it away, it is not doing anyone any good right now. They are not doing it for the benefit of the masses, they are doing it for the publicity and to hopefully get people listening to their music again. If GM's newest song unexpectedly became a hit again and hit the Billboard Top 10, his album would disappear from the website and be in Walmart for 15 bucks before you could blink an eye.

Maybe GM, but I don't think prince would I don't follow him too close but hasen't he been self releasing his ablums for a while now. The free with concerts thing is new but I think he said the heck with major labels.

Huh. Times do change, don't they? When I was a boy, concert tours were done for the sole purpose of increasing album sales in the target markets.
