Just wondering if there a way to set the unit up to require a code for operation. It would be a really cool safety precaution. What would be really great is if you wouldn't have to enter it if it were in the dash, but once you removed it it would change modes and require a PIN.

Just thinking...

I don't see how the unit would know whether the unit had been removed from the dash or simply the power had been cut.

The unit knows if it's in the car sled or hooked up to a home-power.. so it would know if it was removed from the car and powered from an adapter..

There was a very long thread discussing this idea a couple months ago. The biggest problem with doing it is that Empeg's customer support would have to triple its staff to cover all of the "I lost my PIN" calls. And in the end, it wouldn't prevent the Empeg from being stolen, it would just prevent the thief from enjoying it.

The best security is what's already built-in to the Empeg design: Pull it out of the car and take it with you.

What you describe is a transition house-car or car-house. What about when you turn off the ignition and then turn it back on again? This is the same as taking the unit out of the dash at night, not using it at home and then inserting it again next morning.

You would not be able to discern between power-cycles, only transitions in power source.
