For my trip to Europe, I'll be bringing a camera and an MP3 player, as will my girlfriend. Naturally, these will all probably run out of juice when we least want them to. But to keep them going and server as an all-in-one charger, I'm looking at getting one of these.



I wasn't sure if it has been posted about here before, but I thought this would be really cool for powering an empeg for a little bit in certain situations. That is, if it will work with it. I don't know that much about electricity and current, but they have a 12V model, and I gather that's what's necessary. Dozens of people on the Archos Yahoo group own one and say they're great. I figure it's worth a try. When I get one I'll try it out with the empeg (if the correct plug comes with it...could someone tell me if one of those included is the correct size?).

I don't see the capacity spelled out anywhere, but I wouldn't count on it powering the Empeg for very long.

I looked at all the sites that sell these and I couldn't find anything about capacities either. I hate that unit of measurement of "20 hours for your MP3 player!" I thought the capacity might be an issue. Though 10 hours of powering a camcorder is pretty good.

Well, it gives all but the 12V rating, unfortunately. Is there enough to get an idea, though?

Okay, so it's 4.4Ahr. The only other thread on this board I've come across in regards to portable batteries for our empegs is this one from a long while ago, in which there's mention of the bikempeg, which supposedly had a 5Ahr battery that gave Doug 8 hours of playback. Well, I suppose that means this one falls a little short of that, but it's still pretty good. I don't know much about the one Doug used, but this one is supposed to be very light and small, and the adjustable voltages is nice. Again, I don't know how much of this stuff Doug's had. I plan on ordering this battery in about the next week. I'll do a little empeg test then.

Nothing fancy -- just a lead-acid gel-cell motorcycle battery, pretty heavy (I'm guessing three or four pounds) but relatively cheap and trouble free.
