Hello:

I've been reading through this BBS with interest. There's not much activity going on now, but I was wondering if there was any information on when we will see any software updates. The server software certainly is functional but I worry about the scalibility. I plan to do a massive ripping/encoding session in the near future and frankly it would be a big disappoinment if the Rio Receiver choked on my track list.

Regards,

-willryu

I think the guys are working hard on the Empeg . . sorry Rio Car player software update first, this is going to take a couple of months as far as I remember. I am confident that there will one day be an update for the Receiver, however as there is no comercial reason for any effort to be put in, I would be pretty happy to see an update by the end of the year.

A software update is on our list of things to do. I've no definite ideas about the timing, so I can't really tell you when that'll be.

As mardibloke says, we've got a software update for the car player to knock out first.

Car 2.0 is next on the list, and is expected to make a public Beta 1 to 2 months from now. Receiver 1.5 is next after that.

Sorry to harp on about it, but any chance of actually buying one in the UK before the software update?

I'll even drive to the Rio Offices and pick one up, if that's what It takes.

The theory is that if the UK marketing guys thought they could sell them, they would be doing so. Making your interest known to Rio UK might help (NOT the Cambridge office) and I know the Home Products Manager in the US wants to increase the visibility of the Receiver.
