OK guys, I've put 0.28 up on my site.
http://www.pier13.com/rioplay/

Changes:
- Streaming audio should now play back without gaps
- No longer starts playing automatically when turned on. It's still set to the last song playing, though.
- Supports sample rates other than 44.1kHz
- Display backlight goes off after 30 seconds of no keypresses
- Added a logging mechanism which logs useful information about what's going on. This log can be accessed by pointing your web browser at the IP address of the Rio.

I've played streams of 8kHz, 24kHz, and 32kHz and they all play back at the right speed. However, at 24 and 32, there's a bit of a buzzing sound. I don't know if this is a bug or merely a side effect of resampling from those rates. I used the resampling code from resample.c in the MAD distribution (thanks Andy for pointing that out).

Let me know how it works out for you all. I hope it solves some of the problems people were having.

I just got home after somewhat of a shitty shift, and behold, a present awaits me....

Thank you, thank you, thank you Dave

Edit: Well, Rioplay v0.28 has been serving the tunes to me for two hours now and it's just awsome, the stream is so clean that I would have never guessed it was Internet radio...The gaps in playback are ancient history too.

Thanks again Dave for a great piece of work...

This is excellent news. Can't wait to get home and try it out.
However could somebody give me some hints as to why RioPlay doesn't work with JReceiver ?
Weather permitting I'll try and do some work on resolving the problems.

Regards

Dobbin

First time user of RioPlay software. Installed and boots up Ok (nice RioPlay logo). However, when I Select music Rio Server, Artist, Play All, I get the Logo again. I then go to the RioPlay http page and I get a Yellow warning "RemoeThread.cc line 230, Unhandled remoe code 0x10011".

I then try "Shoutcast" option, choose any server (e.g., WOLF FM), a screen shows up for about 500ms with 0:00 as the playtime, then the screen refreshes with the RioPlay logo again. This time when I go to the RioPlay http server (Event log) there are no errors (even the warning I received above is now gone).

It seems like the system is rebooting/restarting for some reason. Has anyone else seen this behavior?

Sounds like exactly what i was getting. I just haven't had time to track it down and post about it.

Okay... so to install RioPlay.. you just replace the .arf file correct??

I had to rename the download file to .arf (it showed up as a .tar, same thing anyways...) Before I dropped the new .arf into the receiver directory, I changed my original .arf file's extension so it would be be there if I needed it still...worked great.

***********Sorry!!!!! Please disregard this.*************
It was something to do with my winamp. When I switched back to the previous version it still happened. I re-installed winamp and it went away. 0.28 sounds good now!

Thanks Dave.

Dave,

0.28 works great with the streams in your streams.cfg and I don't get drop-outs with those anymore. However, with the stream from my PC (which is on the local ethernet/HPNA LAN) the audio is very jerky... so much so that you can barely identify the song.

I have attached a copy of the log file it created, so maybe you can see what is going on.

Thanks,
John

Hello Dave

I assume that adding new streams is as easy as adding the contents of the .pls file to the streams.cfg file? I added one tonight and it didn't show up on the list...I modified the .cfg file in the /etc folder as well as the one in the root...are these the right file(s) to modify?

Thanks -

First off, it's the file in the /etc directory. If there's one in the root then that was just a mistake. The format is really simple: a line that starts with <title> gives the stream title and the lines that follow it give 1 or more URLs for that stream. Can you attach the file that you modified?

K, i'm still getting nothing when i select a shoutcast stream. It works find to play mp3's off the server, no problems. But when i select a shoutcast stream it just sits there with the name of the station and 0:00 on the screen.

here's the error's from the event log:
Warning RemoteThread.cc 230 Unhandled remote code 0x10013
Warning RemoteThread.cc 230 Unhandled remote code 0x10011
Warning RemoteThread.cc 230 Unhandled remote code 0x10011
Info AudioThread.cc 131 Playing Title: SmoothJazz.com Artist: Album:
Warning RemoteThread.cc 230 Unhandled remote code 0x10011

Would it have anything to do with being behind a router with internal addressing?

Oh, and i have a DELL reciever... if that makes any difference..
