Hi,

I have just received a new Rio Receiver from tigerdirect.com and there is no audio output (either from the built-in speaker outputs or the RCA connection).

I have a Dell with Windows XP, HP cable modem router/switch/WAP. I connected it, it configured the IP, found my PC (and the Audio Receiver software sees the receiver), the MP3's are listing OK on the receiver, but when I play there is no output other than a very soft clicking/popping that is constant. My PC shows that armgr.exe is running as a process, the AR icon on the taskbar is blue and says 1 unit. It seems like everything is functioning, but no music. Is it compatible with XP? Is there something that XP is blocking (I stopped the XP integrated internet firewall service)? Or is it just a bad unit?

thanks in advance!

Dennis

Sounds like the network/MP3 part of it is working correctly, and that the trouble is somewhere in the audio output stages.

If there were problems with XP or the server, you wouldn't even be able to browse and select MP3s, so the problem is unlikely to be with the server.

Is the volume turned up? (Sorry had to ask that. )

Can you describe in more detail how you're connecting the player to your speakers? Also, I don't remember whether this model has a headphone jack. Can you hear anything on the headphones?

Well, I have it working now. I had on my PC internet firewall turned on
(Windows XP feature) and I had stopped the service, but I had to have it off
before the Rio Receiver found the PC (it did find it and was communicating,
but it wasn't outputing). Once I turned off the service first and rest the
Rio, it is working fine now. Pretty good unit and will solve my want of
playing MP3's on my home system without having to burn CD's.

Thank you,

Dennis

Getting a little cocky there, huh Mr. Fabris?
