I have seen several cool devices which sense an incoming cell phone call and beep or vibrate or flash, and it occurred to me that someone could build an add on box to do the same for the Empeg.
It could sense an incoming call and PAUSE the Empeg. NOTE I said pause, because why would you want to mute the Empeg, unless you were listening to the radio (which if you have a MK II not too many people are doing)

I have no electronics skills so I thought I would post it as a free idea.

John

Unfortunately this would also pause the empeg everytime you received an SMS or retrained on a cell. The devices you're thinking of (I have a watch that does this) aren't intelligent, they just detect a strong signal on the appropriate band(s).

Oh god no the horror, the beeping of my cell roaming all the time alone drives me bunkers.

Still this leaves me with a question, does the mute line .... mute or pause the player when it is playing an mp3 ? If the answer is mute I too would prefer it to be pause instead. Or even better, settable again with say 3 options :
- radio mute, mp3 mute
- radio mute, mp3 pause
- radio low vol, mp3 low vol

The last option is something I had on my oooooooold sony, an 'att' button. Basicly what it did was gradually (in 1-2 secs) lower the volume to a settable level (far lower then normal yet still hearable) and when you pressed it again it would gradually (same time frame) buildup the volume to it's previous setting again. This is handy for many reasons, muting the radio sometimes makes you miss that important message or traffic-warning (i.e. cars driving on the freeway in the wrong direction, or bicycles, yes bicycles, on that same freeway. Only in Holland btw )...

Whatcha think ?

Cheers,
Hans

radio low vol, mp3 low vol

Personally, I prefer just lowering the volume to pausing all together; I wish there was a soft-mute on the empeg normally; alot of times when I'm talking (..weather on the phone or to people in the car) I don't wanna totally kill the music - just lower the volume...

I'd like to "me too" on the soft-mute.

"Press and Hold" which is now "Toggle Visual" would be better if it was "Soft Mute" for me.

Another instance where configurable button mapping for the front panel would be a perfect solution (as mentioned in this thread a while back). I remember someone posting what a config interface might look like, i think it was Tony, but i might be dreaming.

I posted something about it here, but it was meant for additional remotes to function with the empeg
