I noticed the other day that my knob has a dark 1/2" hairline fracture running from about the centerline of the knob over the outside edge of knob. It has just started to get very cold where I live and wonder if this has caused the plastic to shrink around the shaft. I don't leave the Mk2 in my vehicle overnite but I do leave it in during the day at work, there's no danger of theft there.

Are you sure that's a crack? Almost all knobs have a slight mark exactly as you described - its a mould mark from the injection process.

Still not sure but it's in an unusual place for such and it doesn't radiate from the centre of knob all the way to the edge. I have used one of those magnifying lights and still can't tell, maybe it is a mold mark I can't seem to feel an edge on the area.

Here's a photo attached that's as sharp as I can get.

Thanks I just needed your guys opinion more than anything and/or point out a possible plastic problem.

So it's a mold(mould) mark?
Now that I look even closer at the down button on left it has one of these faintly.

The molten plastic flows through the injection tool in two directions and where it joins up that line is visible. You get that when working with metalic dyes, and to illiminate it a far more sophisticated tool would be required (well outside of our budget for the Mk.2 fascia). We didn't think it was too big a problem.
