Oh, how I wish I would be near Irvine, CA on October 23. Ah, well.

Have they reformed? Any albums yet?

The Pixies? There's a tour. No new music, AFAIK. I'm still not sure why they're on tour. Cash money, I guess.

Great band but I've never been keen on re-unions, I've heard Frank Black's solo stuff but what happened to the rest of them?

That could be arranged, if you know anything about writing Windows device drivers..

I know what Windows device drivers are. Is that close enough?

Well, Kim Deal had a fairly successful outing with The Breeders, where her partner was initially Tanya Donnelly (of Throwing Muses), who quit after the first album, after which her partner was her twin sister Kelley. They had a few albums and then went on a long hiatus when Kelley went to jail/rehab. Kim then had a new band called The Amps, which I never heard. The Breeders then put out a new album a year or so ago. I hear that Joey Santiago and David Lovering had a band together, but I've never heard them.

I'm sure AllMusic could help you out more on this front.

Oh yeah the Breeders, they were great too, especially Pod, I've never heard of the Amps though. I don't do allmusic.com anymore it doesn't like Opera

Pixies - excellent
Mars Volta studio stuff - good
Mars Volta live - utterly abysmal, unfortunately

The above is my humble opinion, obviously, so I hope they perform better if you do get to see them.

The Mars Volta live sucked?! Wow. That's really surprising. Seeing as how the head honchos of At the Drive-in are in Mars Volta, and At the Drive-in was one of the most energetic, amazing, give-it-all-til-you-bleed live bands I've ever seen (multiple times)... I'm surprised as can be. When I saw The Mars Volta last right after the ATDI break up they were pretty into it. Hm. Wonder if they are losing interest or they just had a bad night?
