Hi,
I've got a number of directories with filenames such as:
01 - Song For Lindy.mp3
02 - Santa Cruz.mp3
When I drag & drop onto emplode in windows - it randomises the content order - it's different every time, no matter how I select the files to drag and drop.
The release notes imply that this is fixed in 1.02, but this is the version that I'm using.
Cheers,
Paul.
PS No prizes for working out the artist.

As far as I understand release notes, sort by name only works if you drop a whole directory, not individual files.

When I drag & drop onto emplode in windows - it randomises the content order - it's different every time, no matter how I select the files to drag and drop.
It's not random. I have another post on that subject, and it describes exactly how to drop them in the correct order. The post is here.
Remember that the problem doesn't lie with Emplode- it's the way Windows sends the filenames to Emplode. The problem is with Windows Explorer. ___________ Tony Fabris

Unless you drag and drop from the Icon - it's random.
I wasn't accurate enough with my mouse, so I thought that it was the icon, but wasn't.
Cheers,
Paul.

The current behaviour sorts the contents of directories you drop, not the top level.
It's fixed in v1.1, and I just fixed it on the v1.0 branch this morning. The order of the files as delivered from explorer is now ignored - they'll be sorted alphabetically by filename now.

Fantastic! Does this mean that we'll see some more 1.0x releases before 1.1x?
Cheers,
Paul.

Depends. If there's no serious problems with v1.0x, probably not. However, v1.1 is still a way from complete -- we've got a bundle of testing to do once the alpha team have signed their NDAs -- and the longer it takes, the more likely there'll be interim releases of v1.0x.

Sounds fair - although I can see a few people being put out about waiting for 1.1.
Personally, I'd rather go back to the 'old' days with releases (BetaXX) every month - gives me something to do!

The problem with that approach is that it gives Mike something to do. And he's busy enough already.
On top of that, there's a lot of bug tracking involved in a beta release, and if everyone downloaded it, we'd be snowed under in duplicate bug reports.
That's why we decided to go with a restricted set of people for the v1.1 alphas. That and the fact that we need them to sign an NDA, which is difficult to arrange for everybody.

Yeah, I understand - I'm just restless!
Anyway, we wouldn't want to overwork Mike now would we?

On top of that, there's a lot of bug tracking involved in a beta release, and if everyone downloaded it, we'd be snowed under in duplicate bug reports.
I've suggested a solution to this before: a publicly available list of known bugs.

Borislav
