Out of curiousity, how many of you are able to view, for example, trailers on Quicktime.com? Because I can't. I just downloaded the latest standalone player version, Quicktime 6.5.2, and everytime I go to view any size trailer, I get the broken Q logo. Are they now requiring version 7, which is bundled with iTunes? If so, then that is unacceptable. We need to keep up to date here at work, but we need to be able to let our users play the latest Quicktime files, and we can't have them using iTunes.

I've never had any trouble with any version of quicktime. I look at the apple trailers regularly.

QuickTime 7 is still in development and hasn't been released yet.

If only the trailers on Apple's site are affected, do you have any content filters on the network that might be blocking http://movies.apple.com ?

I don't believe so. I can browse to that site. Our internet is supposed to be unrestricted to myself and others in my office, particularly to test stuff like this out.

I suppose the reason I came to my previous conclusion is that when you're on a computer that doesn't have Quicktime installed, try going to the quicktime website and viewing a trailer. It will ask you if you want to install the Quicktime plugin. I said OK. It appeared to do what it was supposed to, and installed the icon in the system tray. However, when complete, it takes you to the Quicktime + iTunes page. Everything I've tried with this litte experiment has led me to that page. It's pretty annoying.

*edit*
Nevermind, it looks like a permissions thing. That doesn't mean I'm not annoyed by the annoying iTunes push at every turn.

I can browse (http) Apple's website, too. I just can't stream any movie trailers from it, due to corporate aggressive port-blocking/unblocking tendencies (CAP-BUT), as we like to call them around here.
