Hi.
Is there any alternative under windows 2000 to the crap widcomm software? It's driving me absolutely nuts trying to get it to work on one particular machine. I know for a fact that the bluetooth dongle works (I've used it on two other machines today) but the driver CD that came with it simply will not install on this PC. It either hangs indefinitely half-way through when it tries to remove a non-existant network driver, or gives cryptic "internal error 2503" messages that seem to mean nothing.
Later versions downloaded from the manufacturers website do much the same thing. I've tried killing any process that I don't definitely need before installing the software, but it makes no difference. The only real route I seem to have available is to reinstall windows from scratch, in the possibly vain hope that it will do what it's told after that, but that's three days work.
