Hi.

The memory board PCBs are due back around the 7th of May, and I will begin shipping them about 2 weeks after that. I have had 50 boards made, and have sold the first 32 which I already have chips for. Since then, a number of other orders have come in, so I think I'm going to increase the first batch size to the full fifty. That means there are 11 boards left in the first batch, so if anyone wants one, email memory at pcats.co.uk with your details.

Do you need any memory chips? I have a bunch of the "stack upgrade" variety that did not sell sitting in my desk.

What's the model number of those chips. If they are compatible with the rio central, I'd be interested.

BTW, are there any instructions for the memory stack upgrade online? I have looked around, but I haven't found anything.

Thanks.

I believe Rob had posted that the memory boards may not be compatible with MK2 (only the MK2a). Has this been resolved?

The hardware is certainly compatible, but there is some debate over the bootloader, which may need to be upgraded. Hugo will be checking this out soon.

I'd think that the Mk2a bootloader should do the trick if copied into an upgraded Mk2 unit.. Patrick?

Cheers

Gosh, I hope it is, 'cause I ordered my memory board a few weeks ago for my MK2. Seeing how there's still a bunch of weeks before I actually receive it and probably more than that until I actually get around to installing it, I'm sure that something will be figured out if it's not compatible.

Yes, it should work, as the hardware is virtually identical.

Patrick, have you received my e-mail? I've actually sent two but haven't received a PayPal request yet.

Hi.

All 50 boards from the first batch are now accounted for. I'm still accepting orders, but they won't be charged for until the first batch has been dealt with.

Sweet. Do you have an time estimate for how long it'll take for the first batch to be dealt with, and the second wave of orders to be charged? I have to... budget.

They won't work with the Rio Central - the central used SDRAM, the empeg EDO DRAM. The SDRAM parts as used in the central are, in theory, much easier to get hold of.

Hi.

The PCBs have turned up, and I will be building and shipping the boards over the next couple of weeks. More PCBs will be ready shortly after that (not originally planned for, but a fortuitous cockup on the part of the PCB manufacturer means I win) so once I have started shipping the boards I will begin accepting orders again.

Hugo has sent me a modified bootloader for MK2 empegs, which I will be testing shortly.

The MK2 bootloader appears to work.

sweet

oh and since i've already paid for one, i guess i should ask what exactly is required to install the board? i'm pretty handy with the iron, although admittingly, i did send my unit to eutronix for the led install.
