This is the Wish List isn't it?

I just love the crossfading and AutoEQ of 3.00alpha but with as many songs as I have, I only have the guts to run 3.00 on my "backup" player that only has a 10gb drive. It's fun to toy with, but I'd love a stable release...

I'm sure I'm not the only one and I know it may never happen... but I was just in the wishful mood.

I use the 3.00 alpha on my normal player, and it's been absolutely fine. It does, very occasionally, reboot when I select music, and there's a problem with tweak order, but I'd still choose it over v2.0 any day.

Should I at least wait for the memory board because it uses more RAM than 2.00?

Depends on how many tracks you have, and whether you're on a mk2 or mk2a. I've only got about 7,000 tracks on my mk2a -- and I'm not running any third party stuff other than Hijack, so memory's not been a problem for me.

I'm still in line for memory boards, though -- for both my mk2 and mk2a players.

After the memory upgrade, 2.0[1] won't even work right on my player anymore, so you may have to run V3 alpha.

Same thing with mine. I thought I mentioned it before, but maybe I didn't. Mine is a Mk2a with 48MB. My Mk2 with 16MB seems to work fine with 2.x software.

Yup...it's my MK2a with 32 mb.

My MK2 with 16 worked ok, but now seems to be broken hardware-wise and support's been shut down for a while .

Weird. I'd expect 2.00 to work just fine regardless of the amount of memory -- it ignores anything beyond the basic factory amount, so it shouldn't really make any difference.

And 2.01 simply makes use of the added RAM, nothing else.

My v2.01 s/w Mk2a works just fine with 32MB DRAM (using it right now).

Cheers

What part of 2.01 does not work for you? All of it?

Symptoms?

I may load 2.0 tonight because I can't remember exactly what was happening. I think it would be playing a tune, then often cut the audio as if it ran out of cache. That was with 2.0b13 and 2.0. 2.01 had something else weird with it.

I would like to run 2.01 on that player because 3.0a8 almost never remembers it's place inside large playlists (on my player at least).

Very weird. The *only* difference between 2.00 and 2.01 is the extra-ram detection/use code. But you know that already. Weird.

Does set_empeg_max_fid cure the playlist amnaesia ?

My SVX has a bad case of boulder-tore-up-exhaust, so I haven't really been driving it lately. That's the car who's empeg has 48MB of RAM, so I haven't applied that patch yet since I haven't been using it. I will try it hopefully tonight. If that fixes the playlist amnaesia, I'd be happy with 3.0a8.

As I haven't been here for a while...
Could someone summarize a short information about which version (alpha oder beta) is the latest avaliable, where to get it an when an even newer is supposed to come up?

aven't been too active myself lately, but here's a shot:

v3alpha9 is the latest, available along with other alpha versions here. It's tTagged with 'don't use' though, but I fail to recall what the issue was... v3alpha8 offers autoequalizing using the mic input snd some other cool stuff.

v2.01 is the latest stable - only difference to 2.00 is support for extra memory soldered in.

Any future release would surprise me - work on any such thing would be on the guys' own spare time and they've essentially moved on in life, with other things occupying their time (my impression). The last alphas were already surprising - I guess the motivation for those were pretty much 'hacking on some cool features' (multiple character sets, auto equalizing, turning the empeg into a Receiver...). But with an Amersfoort meet coming up one can always hope, but definately should not expect...

It's been since last September since I tried it too, but the major problem as I recall was stuttering audio. I've been out of town for the last few days....I'll load it up again and get you a better description of the symptoms.
