What a shame, although 85 is a pretty good age.

Obviously a good life to the end-

Doohan became a father again at the age of 80, when his wife Wende gave birth to daughter Sarah.

No pity there.

This is so sad... he was a local in recent years. I saw him at QFC once. Never seen so many people geeking out to a man in his 80s buying eggs...

I attended a wedding a few years ago and George Takai was a guest. It was really cool. He was very gracious and let us take a few photos with him.

Takei. Met him at a con once. Very nice guy.

I stepped on Walter Koenig once. I'm not kidding.

When I was ten, I cut in line in front of Robert Parish when I was in Hawaii. I had no idea who he was or why he was eight feet tall. I just wanted more rice. Hehe

I was fortunate to have met "Scotty" once. I had quite a conversation with him, and, it seems, he was not fond of Bill. But then, I don't think many of the cast were overly fond of Bill.
I will miss him greatly...If you have not had a chance to read his book, you should. But be warned, read it to learn of the man, not of Star Trek.
Farewel my friend, we will keep the crystals fresh.

Damned good, I'd say. If his Alzheimer's was getting bad, hard to have much enthusiasm for 86 or 87, though.

I saw a longer bio on CNN. I didn't know much about his real life, but very interesting.

And just saw the note about his ashes. I think if I had the money for some final extravagance, that would be it.
