I have been having problems recently with my broadband internet service. I had a tech come out to my house and he found a few wiring problems. Needless to say I had went out and purchased but did not install a new modem just in case when the tech came it was determined to be the problem. When I mentioned this to the technician he said that it was a wiring problem but it would be a good idea to replace my Motorola SB3100 Modem with the new Linksys one once he had left because I would get better performance. My question now is....Is there really much difference between "older technology modems"(technicians quote) or new units? I looked at the up and downstream speedsto compare and maybe I am missing something but I think the old one is just fine. I will swap it out if there really is a good reason to switch but I if not I hate to waste $80 for nothing. I wiould then just return the modem to the store for credit. Can anyone elaborate because maybe I am missing something.
Merry Christmas,
Dave
