I've been hacking on the Dell Audio Receiver. My initial goal was to get a Linux machine working as the server for the box, but I also did some kernel mods and application code. All of the stuff is here, it's a fun box to hack:

There were some people asking around this BBS for that very thing (a Rio/Dell Receiver Linux server). Thanks for the link. You might want to do a search on the BBS and see who was interested in it. Some of them were on the fence as far as deciding whether or not to get one, and the Linux server was a deciding factor.

Yeah, that'll be me then.

I was intending to write a linux server, but no point now. I'm still waiting however, for the Rio Receiver to be available in the UK.....

Thanks a lot for the website - It'll make my life a lot easier!

Perhaps you should think about SourceForging the code?

Cheers,

Paul.

I was also holding out for the Rio one to become available but see from the above link that the Dell one is cheaper - anyone in the UK imported a Dell one ?

The Rio version comes with a PNA card for your PC. If you plan on using Ethernet you won't need this, so you just have to decide if you prefer the Rio styling (and are willing to pay $50 for it). If you don't already have a network, PNA is pretty cool though.

Greetings!

Does PNA work when you are using xDSL? With microfilters?

Are we talking really identical hardware and software for the Dell and Rio - its just the styling that is different ? If so I might just aswell go ahead and order the Dell one.
